Human Condition Essay
1. There are a number of specific characteristics that describe the human condition. Three of these characteristics describe me as a human: desire for happiness, loneliness and anxiety.
First, I am truly a person who has a desire for happiness in my own life and in the lives of people around me. I see this even more now that I am looking at colleges and choosing a career. I have begun to look at schools and environments that I could potentially be living in, and I feel the need to find a place where I can not only be successful but also be very happy. I am also very focused on finding a career that will make me happy for a lifetime. This is not easy when the push is to find a job that will make the most money. But for me, if I am not happy doing it, it won’t be worth it.
I have also experienced loneliness in a fairly uncommon way. As a rule, I am a very social and friendly person who is surrounded by people who I trust. But I have chosen a sport where I play one of the loneliest positions and the feeling is uncomfortable sometimes. As a goalie, I find myself in the unique position of not being credited for wins, but accountable for losses. I am a member of an 11-man squad, but I practice separately, I am alone for most of the 90 minutes of the game, and at times I feel very separate from the rest of the team.
Lastly, I am starting to experience anxiety for the first time in my life. My schoolwork has been increasing at a rapid-fire pace, and I find myself stressed out. Normally, I am a very organized and prompt student. But this year I have felt very anxious about school and the work load. I ...
