Prophets of Doom and Gloom

It’s ok for Watch Dogs to bark at danger or incoming threats. It’s ok also for Watchmen to stress and strain to warn of strange activities on the horizon…..but in the context of our times and age they need to go beyond and add greater value than just barking and watching….

By now everyone knows that the sub prime land crises in the US has backfired not just to the US but also affected the Major developed countries economies including Australia and New Zealand, our neighbours. Since the warning is out that a major recession is coming, what consumers may need to know is a forecast of a “Worst Case Scenario” most likely to happen  and relief and recovery measures to put in place amidst our present situation.

That is, our present case scenario is not the worst case scenario as a result of our political crises but appropriately how would a recession of the likes of the great depression impact the nation in terms of massive unemployment, closure of banks, bankruptcy of enterprises etc.

President Hoover may have lost the 1932 election to his successor President Roosevelt because of the ill-timed and ineffective relief and recovery initiatives to the American people during a great time of need in what we now know as The Great Depression.

Jeremiah the Prophet is the original Prophet of Doom and Gloom and at least our Economics and Political analyst are consistent with his forecasts to some degree.
So if a Prophet or Analyst arose and started preaching peace and good times, he must be out of his mind as it would be inconsistent in the context of the times we live in and definitely inconsistent with Jeremiah (the original version).
