The relationship between the employee and employer is a very important. Employee relations is a set of human resource practices that seek to secure commitment and compliance with organisational goals and standards through the involvement of employees in decision making. (Strategies for employee relations) There are various elements of employee relations which consist of employee unions, employer unions, policies, involvement of government etc,. The way in which this adds value to the organisation is that if there is proper two way communication between the head of the organisation or the employee and the labourer at the bottom, all the work that is going to be carried out can be done accordingly and the employer can get to know the problems of the employee and help accordingly. The employee should be given a fair chance to put up his queries, suggestions and ideas forward to the employer and there should be transparency in communication. This can be measured in term of surveys done by issuing questionnaires to the employees or have direct or indirect communication with them to evaluate the level of satisfaction and comfort at work.
Health and safety is a important part in the Strategic Human resource management. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide healthy and safe work conditions to its employees and make sure they are not harmed in any way on the job. To do this the employer can provide its employees with various policies to ensure that they will be safe. A lot of health care covers are being introduced by medical agencies that provide assurance to employees on behalf of the organisation.
