Many foreigners cannot understand what makes Hinduism so unique. Hinduism lacks a uniting belief system and many people do not understand exactly what makes up the Hindu religion. Before one goes in-depth about Hinduism, one must learn the basic facts about this complex religion. Did you know that around 80 percent of the India population consider themselves as Hindus? Hinduism is also known as Sanatana Dharma which means everlasting religion. Since Hinduism is more than 3000 years old, this meaning seems fulfilled. It has no single founder, teacher, or prophet and it is not a single unfulfilled religion. Throughout this paper I will go more in-depth on what makes up the Hindu religion, what the cultural and societal influences that have made Hinduism vital to Hinduism, and I will explain the desire for liberation from early existence.
As I said above, Hinduism lacks a uniting belief system. This means that they do not have a single set of beliefs or way of worship. Instead, Hinduism is the use of a variety of different religious groups. Hindus believe in one god, which allow them to visualize various forms of god. This does not mean they are polytheistic, although this is a common misconception. Many Hindus claim to believe in one eternal God, known as Brahman.
