In Marc Prensky’s “Do They Really Think Differently”, I was shocked to read about the brain plasticity. The statement about video games was very true, but I guess I have never thought about how they could reorganize a child’s brain so significantly. The article makes a great point when it talks about several hours a day, five days a week, and sharply focused attention. That is exactly how children play video games. Most children be come so focused and involved in the game that they fail to notice anything going on around them, including someone speaking directly to them. Although, it may seem absurd, this could be a great way to interest children in their schoolwork. If games, video or computer, could be created in an educational way, children would be interested in learning and would have the chance at a better education.  In the article “Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants”, Marc Prensky speaks about the issue of teachers not using technology and new teaching methods to portray information to students the best way they will understand and absorb it. Many teachers have been teaching for so many years the old fashioned pen and paper ways, it is hard for them to change their teaching style and turn to technology. The video games seem like a waste of time and even hard to understand to some teachers. I thought that Prensky made a good point about teachers having to change their style. I could not imagine what it would be like for someone who has been teaching twenty years to have to start using technology. I grew up with some technology, but I am sure there are things out there that I do not know about.
