It has happened since the birth of time. It happened when the Da Vinci code and the God delusion was published. It happened with Charles Darwin’s evolution theory… In fact, it happens every day in the lives of thousands of Christians and non- Christians: Doubting God.
Throughout mankind’s history, faith has been like a delicate butterfly that swirls and twirls amongst us. We see it, and then sometimes it eludes us… But with trouble… we can keep it in eyesight. The thing is, though, the moment we try to take hold of it… Have it within our control, our hands… All we are left with is the ruined remains … its previous captivation unthinkable.
The more I thought about this essay subject, the more I recognized the complexity of Nietzsche’s statement. I definitely disagree with Nietzsche. To prove my opinion, I will look into his perception of God, my definition of God, and comment on the search of proof for God’s existence.
Firstly, I want to use this opportunity to look into Nietzsche’s statement more deeply. According to Petri Liukkonen, director of the Kuusankoski Library in Finland, Nietzsche stated that God is dead because we do not believe in Him anymore and Christian faith is dying.
