In June 2003, on one fine day I got a call from Portescap India to come for an interview for the post of Design Engineer. They were poised for ambitious growth and to support their expansion plans, were looking for dynamic, highly motivated and self-driven professionals with proven track records to join Junior and Middle Management Team.
I had an experience of a year and I was looking for a good company to give boost to my career. The job profile was to be a part of future Global R&D center in India to be started very soon. The parent company was in Switzerland housing the R&D center. The job also involved training in Product Design at Switzerland for 3-6 months. I was very much happy and enthusiastic to get such opportunity.
I cleared the first two technical rounds and was sent for HR interview. At the end I was told that I am selected for the job!!!
On the first day of my job where I was welcomed by the MD and then was told to study the existing production lines. There were four other engineers selected for the same job. All of them also joined in next 2 weeks. All were from a good educational background and experience ranging from 1 to 3 years.
We started understanding the product architecture, the various parts, material, manufacturing and testing aspects. We were reporting to Manager- Projects who was looking after transfer and commissioning of product lines. The interviews for the post of head of design department were also under progress.
