Gap Analysis: Global Communications

Global Communications is a company that is quickly approaching the crossroads of its existence. In which direction is a company to go when it seems that it has reached its peak and find its self moving progressively backward? This question is the exact problem that Global Communications is currently faced with.  This paper will analyze Global Communications current position and where the company wants to be. This gap analysis will identify issues and opportunities that surround Global Communications in their effort to globalize and become more profitable. Also the analysis will view the stakeholders of this scenario and their perspective of the interests, rights, and values they have regarding the change that GC is anticipating. These items will provide a foundation in developing the end state vision and result of the change in GC.
As with most gap analysis the first step in this analysis is to identify and evaluate the current state of the corporation and the future state in which the company desires (Dana, 2004). In the case of GC, the company wishes to reverse their decline in stock and lack of profit. Through close research of their current state and the position they have held in the past, the company realizes that is it time for a change. Currently the company is losing more and more of its market share.  Stockholders are a low return and are unhappy. They are beginning to lose confidence in the company. According to Wall Street, the telecommunications industry is weakening, and the stockholders faith that GC will rebound is diminishing just as fast (University of Phoenix, 2008).
