Four Functions of Management


The planning function is first of the four management functions. The planning stage is to me the most important. A manager that plans properly will complete all projects in a timely manner. The planning process starts by setting goals. These goals are all to be set in a particular order for completion. It is kind of like a blueprint of how you are going to complete your tasks at hand. Once each goal is set you then have can move on to the next level.
As a manager in my company I have to make sure that we know exactly how and when we make deliveries. The whole process is that I have to call to the shipping manager for the company; he then sends the gear to my warehouse. I have to make sure that I have all the gear before I can make a delivery to the Navy. When I have all the gear I load it into our truck and drive it to the pier. I have to then make sure that someone signs for the gear. Once the gear is signed for my mission is over and tasks are complete.
The next of the four functions is organizing. Once the planning process is complete you have to make sure that you take all the objectives and assign them to the right people. Once the tasks are properly assigned you have to make sure that each assigned tasks is explained to the employee completely. You cannot expect an employee to know exactly how the task is to be completed without communicating the goal with the individual. This is easy for me because there are only a couple of people that I need to explain things to. The information that is needed to be known by the shipping manager is given to him by other people. The only thing I need to tell him is a delivery date.
