As time has changed and people have developed management styles have stayed the same. This is because even though we, as a society, grow and develop we do not completely change. People are people and time and technology will never change that. The way in which managers manage and companies are ran, may vary a little from company to company but the foundation is always the same. The basis for any management style comes from the four functions of management which are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
Planning
“Planning is the core area of all the functions of management. It is the foundation upon which the other three areas should be build. Planning requires management to evaluate where the company is currently, and where it would like to be in the future. From there an appropriate course of action to attain the company's goals and objectives is determined and implemented (Rane 1).” Working for Fox and Hound, which is a bar and grill, I deal with managers on a day to day basis. Our management team, and our companies foundation is Fox and Hound’s culture and philosophy. The culture and philosophy is based on how people relate to one another and how to approach situations. Our culture and philosophy is used in our workplace but it is even better when applied to everyday life as well.
Organizing
“Getting organized is the second function of management. Management must organize all its resources in order to implement the course of action it determined in the planning process.
