A Brief Executive Summary:
Henry Ford was the founder of the Ford Motor Company and father of the modern assembly line. His introduction of the Model T revolutionized transportation and American automobile industry. Ford was a genius and a great leader when he brought Model T which was affordable to all middle class in USA. His leadership and management style was always criticized as being harsh and autocratic to all his employees however with the mass production and assembly line he was one of the most successful leaders in the 20th century.
The purpose of the study is to understand and analyze Henry Ford’s management style in all aspects while focusing on history, leadership style, culture, structure and innovation.
Henry Ford was always criticized with his style of leadership and management but he brought the unmarked terminology ‘fordizm’ to world business literature with his assembly line and mass production.
Introduction:
‘I think he was a real visionary and I certainly owe everything I have in my life to him and to his vision. And I never lose the sight of that’ (Brinkley 2003, p. 759). This is how Bill Ford Jr. thinks about his grand father and this sentence highly illustrates that Henry Ford still casts on his company. Henry Ford was a great leader and a remarkable business man for his family, company as well as the automobile industry.
The focus of this report will be Henry Ford’s management style, culture, structure and innovations. First, I indicated the background of his life and establishment of Ford Company and then globalization factor is studied. On the third stage his organizational structure as well as management and innovation is focused. Lastly, his leadership which is the most debatable one is observed.
