Ethical Perspective Paper
The following paper examines my beliefs and thoughts after completing the ethics awareness inventory. I have been able to view my ethical perspective and examined my personal reactions to what is good and why I make the decisions I do. I have also been able to identify what frustrates me and I have figured out how to deal with frustrations (UOP, 2004).
    My ethical perspective on character is I will do what I believe to be right rather than what society portrays to be right. I believe attention to ethics should focus on the achievement of moral excellence. When I am asked my opinion about ones ethical actions I look at the individual’s character. I tend to look for evidence of virtue in people. I believe one’s character is more important than individual’s actions. In my opinion no matter how well-intentioned, one does not make an ethical person without being accompanied by consistent voluntary striving to be a morally good person (UOP, 2004).
I believe that ethics relies on one’s ability to make sound moral judgments. Ethics relies on exemplary character to make the difficult choices. I value qualities such as honesty, wisdom, and integrity, and I place greater importance on demonstrating good qualities than on following management’s rules. I believe one would be incapable of choosing between conflicting rules without possessing good character. I approach decision making by the use of practical wisdom UOP, 2004).
