The federal government seems to be the government that makes and create all the laws. There are many environmental laws and policies that aren’t created by federal government. A poll has been taken by the public view and many are concerned about environmental issues. The state and local government are trying there best to be very active with the laws and policies of the environment.
The question is, “is the environmental policy best developed at either the federal or state/local level of government?” Environmental policy is defined by two words environmental and policy. Environmental consists of 3 main dimensions ecological (ecosystem), a social (quality of life), economic (resource of management) dimensions. Policy is a course of action adopted or proposed by a government, party, business, or individual.
Environment policy focuses on problems arising from human impact on the environment, which retroacts onto human society. Some issues that are addressed by environmental policy are waste management, air and water pollution, protection of natural resources, wildlife and endangered species. A few economic incentives used to encourage compliance with environmental policy are taxes, tax exemptions, tradable permits, and fees. One of the major instruments used in environmental policy is the negotiated agreements between the government and private firms and commitments made by the government. The environmental issues can be looked at in many different aspects, but many different policies can be used to address different ones. The goal of the environmental policy is to protect the environment for future generations, and limit the equity of environmental costs. The policy started from the EPA (environmental protection agency) which passed many environmental laws.
