Critical Thinking Application
When an important decision is needed, there is a process in getting the best possible solution. Usually the level importance will dictate the amount of effort that will be needed to get to the answer. If the decision is where to have lunch then the answer usually does not require much to think about. Now, if a huge corporate company is facing a hard financial crisis, then they will have multiple people putting their heads together to figure out what the best course of action should be. Making the best decision possible requires that you use some level of critical thinking. Critical thinking involves gathering and analyzing information that you will need to make the best possible assessment of a situation. Having the right information is critical and the more information that can accurately be gathered and analyzed, the possibility of a great decisions is inevitable.
The example of my personal experience of how I applied critical thinking to a work related decision will be about an instance that involved having to fire an employee that was a friend also. This employee also was a top performer and income producer for the company. The revenue that this person generated was at least 30% of the company’s total profit. The problem with this employee was with the money generated came the headaches of unhappy clients and even threats of lawsuits. Many of the client that this person had expressed how displease of the level of professionalism and service that they were getting. As owners and managers we had a few meeting because of this situation and how the problem seems to be escalating to a critical point.
