The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless
The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) is a non profit organization who works with other non profit organizations to serve and meet their client needs. Colorado is very diverse and combines a wide variety of races, social and economic groups together. The community has several community foundation programs to help all individuals who qualify and among these the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is very well known. The CCH offers a wide range of programs from assisting to getting a home to job placement services. (CCH, 2008) Because several of the people needing help suffer from health issues, CCH also offers clinics to help those with or without insurance.
Homeless families and children is not a new epidemic within our country, states, or even our cities, but it has drastically increased over the last few years. Homelessness is increasing mainly due to poverty, foreclosures, loss of jobs, and the economy. When a person becomes homeless it is not usually due to lack of trying to survive, but rather no where to turn to for help. This is where CCH comes in to play. CCH offers housing, outreach intervention, jobs and educational assistance, food program referrals, health clinics, childcare assistance, and many other services depending on the need of the individual and their family. (CCH, 2008).
The Colorado Coalition has a web site for people to look up their services, information, and how they can get involved. CCH has a section to volunteer as well as to make donations. CCH offers state wide programs and works with other non profit organizations to help those in need. CCH offers Holiday programs, and a list of resources guide right on their website.
