Description
"Cards for a Cause" is a social networking event structured around a "for-fun" poker tournament. The end goal is to raise $1709.80 for the AIDS Vancouver Island Foundation. The event will be held Friday, February 1, 2008, and all proceeds raised will be donated to AIDs Vancouver Island. The evening is catering to two target markets, the poker players and the social / networking market.
The Poker Tournament
With the current "buzz" around the card game Texas Hold'em poker, Angels Inc. has launched an event parallel to this media hype. Understanding that many people of legal gambling age are currently seeking opportunities to play poker, "Cards for a Cause" aims to meet this demand while also serving social concerns. Poker players can take part in this event, and have many opportunities to advance towards the cash prize given away at the conclusion of the evening. The tournament structure is based on a model that will create excitement for the players and revenue to donate to AIDs Vancouver Island.
The Social-Networker
For the social-networker, there will be activities to occupy their time over the evening. Along with a DJ and food, they will be able to take part in the raffle at the end of the evening. The diversity of the attendees will also add to the benefit of this group as they will be able to meet and converse with new and affluent people from the community.
"Cards for a Cause" encompasses many different revenue streams to generate enough money to first break-even, and second, donate a sum of money to the designated charity. Over 80 percent of revenue generated by this venture will be during the final week of the challenge. In terms of innova ...
