Communication In Conflict

Conflict may be an inevitable situation within any environment where two or more individuals must interact; however, how that conflict is approached can be the determining factor for resolution. Personal feelings often come into the situation and the manner in which each presents their views can result in resolution or a complete halt to the resolution process. Constructive conflict allows for change, where destructive conflict will result in a loss of productivity, professional or personal relationships. The use of effective communication may hold the key to changing a destructive conflict environment into one that is constructive and results in positive conflict resolution. Most managers in the workplace find that the most important factor in promotability is effective communication. With this in mind it is strange to see that many managers and employees within organizations lack effective communication skills. In fact, managers still find effective communication to be the biggest problem in organizations. Why do so many people lack these skills? This is often due to the fact that employees are not aware of the importance and their lack of this skill. Employers in the organizations of today are stressing the importance of communication more and more. Emphasis is placed on communication being clear by being transmitted strongly with precise images.

Communication is essential, whether it is within an organization or between two individuals. It is through this process that creative ideas and information is exchanged. Individuals who truly wish to have open and honest communication will find that this strategy helps to create a positive interactive environment.
