Introduction
One of the most competitive businesses in the world today is the telecommunications industry. Telecommunications is the transmission of signals over a distance for the purpose of communication (Wikepedia 2007). With rapid technological changes in telecommunications, the companies in this industry must continue to offer up to date products in order to stay competitive in the market.
This paper will discuss the situation or problem of CrysTel, based on the information from the simulation, as it relates to its ever changing products and how each department in the company deals with these changes. An appropriate change model will be developed for CrysTel and its department, which will focus on handling human variables and potential resistance to change. Contingency strategies and a leadership style will be selected to help CrysTel carry out and manage the changes the company will face.
Background
CrysTel is a telecommunications company that operates in Illinois, U.S. Currently, CrysTel has 2,500 employees with an annual revenue of $200 million dollars. Its product profile includes data cables, wireless solutions, and network. With the ever changing industry, CrysTel has undergone continuous change and has managed these changes with great success. However, with the overwhelming technological developments, CrysTel plans to expand its business by offering unconventional services such as Copper Interconnectivity, besides Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), General Packet Radio Services (FPRS), and other real-time solutions (UOP: Simulation 2007).
