Differences in B2C VS. B2B: Marketing
This paper will discuss the differences between business to customer (B2C) and business to business sites (B2B). The paper will include information on different marketing strategies such as email marketing, general online marketing strategies, and seven differences identified between the two.
B2B and B2C style of marketing are different. A number of people think that marketing is just cut and dry marketing and that marketing to businesses and customers are the same. Marketing for B2B and B2C are primarily the same. Marketing programs such as direct marketing, public relations, advertising, and word of mouth and how they are executed determines how they differ. One of the first plans for developing a marketing strategy for B2B and B2C is to know what customers to target and why they need the product or service. (Murphy, 2002)
In terms of B2B marketing, the internet has finally made a presence. Businesses seem to be interested and the technology environment is well into high gear. Stable markets for B2B involving the internet has the potential to develop unprecedented levels of market transparency and decrease the cost of procurement not necessarily the cost of the products.
Some key concepts for B2B are that B2B will become a larger entity than B2C due partly to B2C hard lessons learned, and partly to large opportunities for business efficiencies. Timing is also a large part of B2B. Exchanges of products will allow B2B to identify weak and strong competitors. (Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, 2000)
