This paper will elaborate on how to apply the 9 step problem solution template to solve Global Communication’s current situation. The paper will go into detail the information required for each step. The concepts from the text as well as benchmarking findings will be used to show how GC can apply organizational commitment activities, organizational communication techniques and how to handle emotions in the workplace in order to be successful.
Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Current situation in the telecommunication industry and Global Communication (GC) management’s inability to communicate its organizational goals to the Union and its employees resulted in a company conflict. Competition from local, long-distance and international companies resulted in GC’s stock price to plummet by 50% in three years. Cable companies further increased GC’s problems because they provided complete services for the home and business. In order to compete, GC signed an alliance with a satellite provider and a partnership with a wireless provider. To improve profits, GC also identified cost reducing measures. GC wants to capitalize on these initiatives by competing in the international market to become a global provider of telecommunications.
Another set of events that resulted in management and union conflict are the various forms of communication in the scenario. The Senior Leadership Team communicated mainly by email during its initial stage in selling the company’s new strategy.
