1. Black Panther Party
A. In October 1966 Bobby Seale and Huey Newton formed the Black Panther Party in Oakland, California. They named the new organization after the emblem adopted by the Lowndes County Freedom Organization in Alabama.
B. The Black Panther Party was an African-American organization established to promote Black Power and self-defense through acts of social agitation. It was active in the United States from the mid-1960s into the 1970s.
2. Black Panther purpose
A. The Black Panther were initially formed to protect local communities from police brutality and racism.
B. The Black Panther was a community based organization. In January, 1969, The first Panther's Free Breakfast for School Children Program is initiated at St. Augustine's Church in Oakland. By the end of the year, the Panthers set up kitchens in cities across the nation, feeding over 10,000 children everyday before they went to school. There whole plan was to protect and give back to the communities that needed help. They provided clothes, after school programs, daycares, and homeless shelters for people who needed it.
3. Ten point program
A. The party was one of the first organizations in U.S. history to militantly struggle for ethnic minority and working class emancipation. A party whose agenda was the revolutionary establishment of real economic, social, and political equality across gender and color lines. So they started a ten point program
