Being Global: Good or Bad?
What is global? Global is related to the whole world, which the connection between countries becomes closer. While it makes a closer relationship between countries, does it give positive impacts to our society, or maybe give negative impacts? There has been a pro and contra of how the idea of ‘being global’ is impacting our world. Through economic and history disciplines, we can clearly examine how exactly this phenomenal issue influence our society.
Economic
In Economics, globalization means expansion of global communication and market connections, growing social and political independencies on a global scale. In the late 20th to the early 21st century, Globalization became a very important issue in our society. Globalization has shaped our world in many aspects: social/culture, technology, politic, environment/biology, and economy. One of the examples of globalization in economy is the increase in import and export activity. As Globalization becomes an important part and influences many aspects in our society, there are lots of arguments that arise brought by two different groups. Pro-Globalization argues that globalization brings many opportunities and prosperity and Anti Globalization argues that globalization bring many dramatic negative effects. It is true that globalization has increased the world economy activities tremendously in the last decades; however economy globalization has side effects on the economies of developing countries. Repayments of external debt as a percentage of export of goods and services by developing countries have increased.
