Are To Many Kids Going To College?

Are to many people going to college? 12/08/08 Bus 100 Are too many people going to college? I will summarize this article in my own words. State my views and opinions. And state whether I agree or disagree with the author. The author Charles Murrary says that while college is good, its not for everyone. He gives very good examples. For people who are exceptionally smart or in the 98th percentile of academic ability that seems logically to go to college if they want to become a lawyer, doctor or maybe run for political office. Pushing her towards a rigorousschedule wouldn’t be that hard. They enjoy it because odds are they are good at that. Studying, keeping a rigorous class schedule, or lack of motivations wouldn’t be a obstacle. They wouldn’t have problems coming up with smart interesting perspectives about class readings because its not hard for them so they would enjoy it. For a student in the 70thpercentile a average student can easily get into a college now a days. His linguistic ability and logical mathematical ability are average. But he scored in the 95thpercentile in the small motor skills and spatial abilities that are helpful in a blue color job such as a electrician. Now for this student the author states that being very good as a electrician vs. being a mediocre white collar manager. He says that he would actually make more money being a top electrician and could possibly with in four years vs. being a mid level manager in a office. For student like this college would not be a wise decision but is still a option in today’s colleges. Overall the author is stressing that college is not a bad choice if you’resuited for it.
