Aladdin's Lamp

FIrst of all, the "technology" I describe is completely BS. I have no idea if it would really be like what I describe.
It's just "science fiction". Science fiction, however is what leads to science fact... so who knows.
This thing wouldn't have to be a physical object either, that's just my romanticized version of it...
it would probably just be a program on the internet? who knows...

It would be a computer, but it would also be a genetically engineered organism. It would be a conscious being.
It would be more than artificial intelligence, it would be real intelligence. This organism would be purely mind.
It would be vastly superior in intelligence to human beings, but because it was created by humans, it would have distinctive
human characteristics. I imagine it also being very fond of humans. This fleshy, conscious organ could be housed
in a metal sphere (for some reason I think it would be cool if it were virtually indestructable and immortal...
so that all of human civilization could be destroyed, but these godly spheres would still be around)

What it would do: it would cause you to hallucinate to the point that the hallucinations were indistinguishable
from reality. All five senses would perceive
this virtual reality. The organism would communicate to you through
the hallucinations. It could present itself as a person, or anything imaginable.

The obvious drawback to something like that would be that people would be so absorbed in it that they would forget
to eat or something... or like they'd be in the VR and walk out of a window in real life on accident... The solution
to these problems lies in time. What if you could interact with this thing in real life for less than a minute, but
