Affirmative Action

Today I am here to address the matter of Affirmative Action and this company. I will address the pros and the cons of Affirmative Action. I will show you how Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity Law work kind of together or some may say hand and hand. To begin I would like to give you the meaning of Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action is when positive steps are taken to help women and minorities in the area of employment, education and business from which they have been excluded historically.
This Action began in 1972 but before that there was a Civil Rights Act that took place in 1964. This action was put in place to eliminate discrimination on the lines of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. In the past there were lots of these issues and they had to be addressed then and they have to be addressed now. Some may say this is 2008 and we do not have these issues in this day and age but it is not true. There is as much a need for it now as it was then.
Corporations big and small are required to follow the guidelines that are set by the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Law. Equal Employment Opportunity Law was set into place to remove discrimination from the workplace, and to ensure that all employees no matter race, color, national origin, religion or sex. This is so that everyone can have the same opportunities to enter and progress in the work place like everyone else.
This was to include all people to have the same rights and opportunities to job security, eligibility and the ability to advance in their careers just like everyone else.
