Advertising is a part of daily life and unavoidable in society today. Advertisements are everywhere and a constant. The advertising industry in Canada has been steadily increasing in operation revenue and establishments since 2001 (stats can). Due to the technological advancements with computers and electronics we feel the advertising industry will shift from print advertising to digital advertising. Bill Keller, the New York Times Executive Editor and excellent editorial emissary, made the following comment in an interview, “The digital and online audience are growing at a great clip, while print circulation is not.. If the trend continues, there’s little doubt that — “eventually” — printing will become the weakest business.” (http://publishing2.com/2007/07/17/). With large fixed costs and circulation and audience reach issues, the print ad business seems obsolete when compared to digital advertising.
Our group has identified four major types of advertising competition we will face in the market:
Television Advertising: Uses a mixtures of pictures, text, video and audio to create advertisements that are played during breaks of the entertainment being provided
A television advertisement, advert or commercial is a form of advertising in which goods, services, organizations, thoughts, etc. are promoted via the medium of television. Most advertisements are produced by an outside advertising agency and airtime is purchased from a Media Agency or direct from the TV channel or network.
Radio Advertising: Incorporates only audio to play advertisements during the breaks of the radio program
