Advertisement to children

Advertising is a form of communication that typically tries to persuade potential consumers to purchase or to consume more of a particular product or service.  Children represent an important demographic to marketers because kids have more autonomy and decision-making power within the family than in previous generations, so it follows that kids are vocal about what they want their parents to buy.  Advertising directed at children can cause an unhealthy want for a particular product or service and this can cause emotional problems whether or not they get the product or service.  Since advertising can cause unhealthy effects in children and their development into adults, advertising aimed at children should be restricted.  
Advertising typically helps to sell a product or service easier to more people.  As a result companies hire an advertising agency to promote their product or service.  Advertising agencies continually do research to find potential consumers and what effect certain images and sounds have affect consumers emotions.  By having control of consumers emotions, advertising agencies can manipulate them to buy a certain product or service.  The techniques advertisement agencies use can easily affect a consumer’s wants.
